🎙️BLAC Magazine Comedy Showcase: Shops on Top, Blac Detroit Magazine and Doomsday Shelter Comedy for Mental Health are hosting an epic night of live standup comedy at Detroit’s Eastern Market featuring headliner and Pontiac native Mike Geeter. Aug. 12, $20, info.

🎧 Detroit is Different Presents — A Lot of Studio: Check out a unique live podcast hosted by influential Detroiters, live in a Detroit neighborhood. Grab some dishes from Soul on a Roll and Big Ma’s Coney Cart, take home vegetables from the Detroit is Different garden and chat with your neighbors. Aug. 12 (every Thursday until Sept. 9), free, info.

🌮 Michigan Taco Fest: The 2nd Annual Taco Fest is back on this year at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion. How about FOUR days of tacos, strolling Mariachi bands, eating contests, a cutest chihuahua contest and Lucha Libre wrestling? Yep, that’s right — and it’s family-friendly. Aug. 12-15, $7 entry fee + $5 parking, info.

👨‍🎤 “Labyrinth” Celebration: The 1986 film starring David Bowie is back in theaters, in honor of its 35th anniversary (and Jim Henson’s 85th birthday). Celebrate it in costume with live music from Serious Moonlight Band, Goblin King photo ops and a singalong screening at the Redford Theatre. Aug. 13-14, $20, info.

🎤 Detroit Summer Fest: Get ready for an awesome roundup of performers like Tee Grizzley, G Herbo, Kash Doll, Peezy, Asian Doll, Snap Dogg and more at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater. Aug. 13, $55+, info.

🍗 Ribs and R&B music fest: Does it get any better than delish BBQ and amazing beats at Hart Plaza? We think not. Snag a VIP weekend pass to get amazing access to the main stage. 🍻Detroit Beer History: Are you a beer aficionado, or just eager to learn something new in Detroit? Explore the Eastern Market area and check out old brewery sites, extending back to prohibition, with this history walking tour.
